INTERNATIONAL WHITE CANE SAFETY DAY: WALKATHON
On a bright Sunny day, Sunday, which scared us by an inclement early morning, a walkathon was conducted on 15 Oct. 23 by the visually challenged inmates of the Institute for The Blind (IFIB), Sector 26, Chandigarh. The students & teachers were specially brought by buses to Rock Garden. The walkathon started at 10.30 am and concluded at the Sukhna Lake. This event coincided with the International White Cane Day, bringing home safety & respect for the visually impaired the aids they require, to be independent besides ensuring their safety & security.
